The Sunningdale Power-Sharing Executive (1974)
The Power-Sharing Executive, made up of SDLP, Alliance & Pro-Power Sharing UUP members, lasted from 1st of January to the 28th of May, 1974.
Heavily criticised and openly opposed by a majority of UUP members led by Harry West MP. Also opposed by Ian Paisley & the DUP. These forces of opposition to Sunningdale combined to form the UUUC (United Ulster Unionist Council), which in conjunction with the UWC (Ulster Workers’ Council) combined to bring down the Sunningdale Power-Sharing Executive in May 1974.
